INFORMATION FOR CARERS

We want to encourage everyone to take part in exercise and so we welcome anyone who needs help or support due to illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, who cannot access our facilities without their carers support.

FACILITY AND ACTIVITY USE

We wish to support customers needing care and those caring for someone. However, free carer use of the facilities varies depending on the activity and is only available whilst the person being cared for is visiting. If the carer wishes to use the facilities on a more flexible basis than outlined below, we offer a concessionary priced membership to all registered carers.

We recognise that there are many reasons that someone may need the support of a carer, and these reasons are not just restricted to a physical disability. Therefore, if a participant requires a carer to attend the centre with them, the carer is welcome to take part in the same activity for free at the same time, even if they do not need to physically help the individual once they are in the centre. It is expected that the carer stays in close proximity of the person they are caring for, especially if their needs put them at greater risk of having an accident, part of their role being to ensure the person’s safety.

However, this is not available for activities where bookings are needed as there are restricted spaces available. These are:

Gym & Swimming Pool

Eligible carers are welcome to use the gym or swimming pool at the same time as the person they are caring for regardless of the person’s specific care needs, if the specific session does not require pre-booking.

Group exercise classes, wellbeing studio, court bookings and other bookable activities

Carers are welcome to accompany the person they are caring for but are not able to pre-book to take part as well, as there are restricted spaces available for these activities. The carer may enquire on arrival if there are any spaces available, and if so, they can be given a space free of charge.

If the carer wishes to pre-book activities so they can take part with the person they are caring for, then this is chargeable at the concessionary rate. Furthermore, if the carer wishes to use the facilities when not visiting with the person they are caring for, a concessionary membership rate can be offered on seeing proof of eligibility.
